To start with, my ancestors and your ancestors were both originally created on the same day. Here is how God describes what He did (most dinosaurs are beasts of the earth).
Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth after [ah]their kind”; and it was so. Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image. God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. - Genesis 1:24,26 & 27
Did you see what God did? You are created in the image of God, we dinosaurs are not. Nor is anything else that God created. You alone, humans, are created in the image of God. That makes you very special. Very unique. Very important. But your being the image of God means you also have a responsibility.
What Is That Responsibility?
To be created in the image of God does not mean humanity physically looks like God. What it means is that you are morally, mentally and socially like God. For example, the Ten Commandments describe the moral character of God, and that is the moral character you should have.
The Problem Is... you don't obey God's law. You lie. You take things that don't belong to you (stealing). You covet what others have. You look at others with lust. In Matthew 5:27-28 Jesus says that if you look with lust you have committed adultery in your heart. And these are just four of the Ten Commandments. You humans are law breakers. And that means you have earned the just punishment, the lake of fire.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. - Romans 3:23
"All liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” - Revelation 21:8
This is a big problem, and there is nothing you can do to fix it. Only Jesus can save you from the just penalty for breaking God's laws. When Jesus died on the cross He paid your penalty for sin (breaking God's laws) in full.
Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death." - Romans 8:1-2
